05 · Use Telegram’s own proxy type

Telegram’s own proxy type keeps Telegram off your trading devices.

This proxy type is on the 2- and 5-device plans. It counts its own devices, apart from your trading devices, so Telegram doesn’t use up one of those.

  1. 01In your dashboard, choose Telegram, then Telegram proxy.
  2. 02If it says the proxy is still being set up, wait a minute and refresh the page. A new proxy takes a moment to reach our servers.
  3. 03Tap Open in Telegram, then confirm in Telegram, so Telegram adds it for you.

To add it by hand, use the menu above and pick the type that takes a secret. Then enter these values.

This type uses the secret instead of a login and password. Paste it rather than retyping it, because one wrong character stops it working. Don’t share the link, as anyone with it can use your connection.

Not on the 1 device plan. The one-tap link still connects Telegram there.

06 · Check that it works

Check that Telegram is using the proxy before you rely on it.

  1. 01Look for the shield icon at the top of your chat list. It shows when a proxy is on.
  2. 02Tap it to see the saved proxy and its status.
  3. 03Send yourself a note in Saved Messages. If it arrives, Telegram is working through the proxy.

With the one-tap link, Telegram on a phone that’s on another network counts as one of your plan’s devices. Your dashboard shows how many are in use.

07 · What to know

What to know before you ask support.

  1. 01Leave “Use proxy for calls” off, because voice and video calls don’t go through us.
  2. 02Keep only our proxy in Telegram’s list of proxies. With auto-switch on, Telegram can move to another saved proxy without telling you.
  3. 03Change the server you connect to and the link changes. Add the new link in Telegram, because the old one stops connecting.
  4. 04Don’t share your one-tap link or your Telegram proxy link. If one gets out, go to Security in your dashboard and replace your Telegram link or change your trading password.
  5. 05We never record what’s in your Telegram traffic, and we can’t read Telegram’s own encryption, so we can’t see your chats.
  6. 06Telegram data counts toward your plan’s monthly data, so busy groups and media use some of it. Your dashboard shows how much you’ve used.
  7. 07The Telegram Web page has no proxy setting we could find. Use the app.
