Why gold XAUUSD requotes happen in MT4 and what to check
The short answer
A gold requote means your broker rejected your price because XAUUSD moved before the order arrived. In MetaTrader 4 (MT4), your broker sets whether gold uses request or market execution rules. Check contract specifications, test your deviation setting, and tally requotes by trading session.
A gold requote means your broker refused your clicked price
A rapid candle moves on gold during a news release. You click to enter or exit, but a requote prompt appears with a worse price. By the time you click again, XAUUSD has moved even further.
In quote-based execution, MetaTrader 4 (MT4) sends orders requesting the exact current price. If your broker rejects that specific quote, it sends back new prices. MetaTrader 5 (MT5) offers similar execution modes.
Every requote forces a difficult choice between accepting worse terms or missing the entire move. Leaving this unaddressed ensures future volatile moves produce the exact same outcome.
Brokers set gold execution rules separately from currency pairs
Brokers configure execution rules independently for each financial instrument. That is why XAUUSD frequently requotes on the same account where currency pairs fill cleanly.

To inspect your setup, right-click gold in Market Watch and select Specification. The Execution line shows your assigned mode. If it specifies exact price confirmation, requotes are built into your broker's order process.
Requotes cluster when prices move fast. Whenever transit delays slow your order, market quotes change before your packet reaches the trade desk.
Maximum deviation trades fewer prompts for fills at new prices
The MT4 order window includes a setting to enable maximum deviation from quoted price. Enabling this lets orders fill without prompts if the price changes within your selected range.
This setting applies only to quote-based execution modes. Points define the unit value, so check your broker contract details for gold.

Three checks to determine why your gold trades requote
Keep a simple trading journal across several sessions. Recording order details separates broker configuration rules from market volatility and connection problems.
- Your broker. Check the Execution line under symbol Specification. If your broker assigns exact price matching, only account reclassification can alter that behaviour.
- The market. Check whether requotes cluster around scheduled economic releases. Heavy volatility naturally causes frequent price changes across all providers.
- Your connection. Compare order results between wired Ethernet and mobile hotspot connections. Consistent differences point toward local residential routing delays.
Change one variable at a time across multiple trading days. Brief tests during calm markets provide little meaningful diagnostic data.
Market quotes can also shift while data travels between your terminal and the broker server. Regulatory filings confirm transit delay directly impacts execution prices.

Home connection lags when someone else uploads or streams at home

Why a proxy does not change this. No claim. Lag that appears only while others upload or stream on your connection starts in your own router, which we can't change.

MetaQuotes blocks the trader's own home or ISP address with 'No connection' on every server
