NinjaTrader 8 proxy setup, there is no proxy field
The short answer
NinjaTrader 8 has no proxy setting, so there is nowhere to type the four values, NinjaTrader’s help lists none. We have tested no way to send NinjaTrader through Traders Proxy, so we promise none. MetaTrader 4 and 5 each have a documented proxy setting.
NinjaTrader 8 has no proxy setting, so there is nowhere to type your values.
NinjaTrader’s General options list General Properties, Sounds and Share Services. Its Options overview never mentions a proxy.
NinjaTrader’s help documents no Use proxy server box under Options. If a guide sends you to one, there are no steps to follow from it.
Which other ways could send NinjaTrader through a proxy?
- A proxy field in NinjaTrader. NinjaTrader documents none, so there is nothing to fill in.
- Editing NinjaTrader’s configuration file so it follows the PC’s proxy settings. Forum posts we couldn’t open in full mention it. We don’t know whether it takes a login, and other Windows programs that follow the same settings could use the proxy too.
- A tool that works per program, such as Proxifier. Its documentation covers
SOCKS5with a login, and rules that match programs by name. Nobody here has tested it with NinjaTrader 8, so we don’t know which of NinjaTrader’s connections it would catch.
Could a per-program tool work?
A tool such as Proxifier runs outside NinjaTrader. Its documentation says it can send one program’s connections through a proxy that needs a login.
It is a third-party commercial product. Traders Proxy doesn’t control it or promise support for it, and we haven’t tested it with NinjaTrader 8.
What has nobody tested?
- Whether such a tool catches every connection NinjaTrader opens.
- How the connection for your broker or data feed behaves through it. NinjaTrader’s help doesn’t say how each one connects.
- Whether your broker allows connections from a proxy address. That is your broker’s rule.
- Whether NinjaTrader’s phone app can go through a proxy app. Our Android setup covers MetaTrader 4 and MetaTrader 5 only.
Until someone tests a method, we make no claim that NinjaTrader goes through Traders Proxy, or that only NinjaTrader would.
Warning. Check your broker’s terms
If your broker prohibits proxies, don’t use one. Traders Proxy doesn’t change what your broker allows.
What can you do today?
If your broker also offers MetaTrader 4 or MetaTrader 5, both have a proxy setting that MetaQuotes documents. So you can use your plan there today. The guides below show each one step by step.

Frequently asked questions
Where is the proxy setting in NinjaTrader 8?
There isn’t one. NinjaTrader’s help documents no proxy option.
Can NinjaTrader 8 use a proxy?
Not through a setting of its own, because it has none. A per-program tool can send a program through a proxy, but we haven’t tested one with NinjaTrader 8.
Does Traders Proxy work with NinjaTrader 8?
No method is tested yet, so we make no claim. Our guides cover MetaTrader 4 and MetaTrader 5, which have a proxy setting.
Would only NinjaTrader go through the proxy?
A Windows-wide proxy would send other programs through it too. How a per-program tool treats NinjaTrader’s connections is untested.
Does the NinjaTrader phone app have a proxy setting?
We found none. Our Android setup covers MetaTrader 4 and MetaTrader 5 only, so we give no steps for NinjaTrader’s app.
Which Windows does NinjaTrader 8 need?
NinjaTrader’s requirements page names Windows 11 and Windows Server 2016 or later, 64-bit. It doesn’t name Windows 10, macOS or Linux, so we give no setup for them.

Generic or free proxies fail MetaTrader's proxy Test button
“Server — enter here the IP address and port number of the server separated by a colon. To the right of this field, select the type of proxy server: HTTP, SOCKS4 or SOCKS5. In HTTP mode, NTLM authentication is also supported”
How our system handles it. Use SOCKS5 or HTTP, whichever your platform offers. Enter our server, login and password in MetaTrader’s own Proxy window.

HTTPproxy loginSupporting
Where it stops. MetaTrader 4 and MetaTrader 5 support SOCKS5 and HTTP (not SOCKS4). A passing Test confirms the route reaches our server.
MetaTrader 5 will not use a proxy running on the same computer
“what im talking about is that mt5 cannot connect to proxy servers on the pc , it can only connect to remote proxies but when i want to connect to 127.0.0.1 it cannot connect. for some reason it rejects the loopback address”
How our system handles it. You don't need a tunnel app on your computer. Your platform connects to our server through its own Proxy setting.
- Own separate connection to your brokerPrimary
- Built-in
SOCKS5loginPrimary
Where it stops. Your platform connects through its built-in Proxy window, with no extra app to install. Some MetaTrader 5 builds have separate proxy-window bugs.
The platform's proxy setting does not cover everything (WebRequest, MQL5.community, Market)
“Enable proxy server — allow the use of a proxy server when connecting to the trade server.”
Why a proxy does not change this. Only the trading app you set up uses Traders Proxy. Everything else stays on your normal internet.
- Only the app you set up is routedBoundary
Where it stops. Only the trading app you set up uses Traders Proxy. Expert Advisor web calls, custom DLLs and Market downloads may still use your normal internet.
Invalid account, Authorization failed and an empty broker server list
“Many (or most of) demo accounts are provided by brokers for limited time only. Besides, the demo account may be expired because of inactivity.”
Why a proxy does not change this. Traders Proxy forwards your platform’s traffic. It does not create, verify or fix your broker login.
Where it stops. If the Journal reports Invalid account or Authorization failed, your terminal reached the server and your login or server name needs checking.
