NinjaTrader proxy setup on Windows 11, no proxy field
The short answer
NinjaTrader 8 has no proxy field. Its help lists no proxy setting, so there is nowhere to paste a Traders Proxy server. The one way we can describe is a separate per-program tool such as Proxifier, which we haven’t tested with NinjaTrader.
NinjaTrader 8 has no proxy setting, so there is nowhere to paste a server.
NinjaTrader’s help lists General Properties, Sounds and Share Services under General options. It documents no proxy setting there, and its Options overview page never uses the word proxy.
A guide may send you to Tools → Options → General for a proxy box. NinjaTrader’s documentation lists no such box.
NinjaTrader 8 for desktop is a Windows program. Its requirements page names Windows 11 and Windows Server 2016 or later, 64-bit. It doesn’t name Windows 10, macOS or Linux.
Can you send NinjaTrader through a proxy another way?
A separate per-program tool can send one program through a proxy. Proxifier is one. Its documentation says it supports SOCKS5 with a username and password, and that rules pick programs by name.
We haven’t confirmed this with NinjaTrader 8. NinjaTrader doesn’t document it, and we haven’t tested the two together.
Warning. Check your broker’s terms
If your broker prohibits proxies, don’t use one. Traders Proxy doesn’t change what your broker allows.
The per-program method, untested, in five steps
- 01
Get your values
In your dashboard’s Connect section, pick the server nearest you. Then open Your values for your platform, choose the Other tab and copy the server, port, login and password.
No method is tested on NinjaTrader, so we make no claim about your broker’s city there.
- 02
Add the proxy to the tool
Add a proxy server in the tool with your values, because NinjaTrader has no place of its own for them.
- Type
SOCKS5- Server
The server value from your dashboard- Port
The port from your dashboard- Login
Your Traders Proxy login- Password
Your Traders Proxy password
- 03
Name NinjaTrader in a rule
Add a rule that lists NinjaTrader’s program file and sends it through that proxy.
Proxifier reads rules from the top and applies a Default rule to everything else. Keep Default on Direct so your other programs stay as they are.
- 04
Connect as usual
Start NinjaTrader, connect to your broker or data feed, and open a chart.
NinjaTrader has no test button. The tool’s connection log shows which NinjaTrader connections use the proxy. A moving chart only shows that you are connected.
- 05
Check your dashboard
Open your dashboard while NinjaTrader is connected. It shows your connected devices, your data use and how busy our server is, live.
If no device appears, NinjaTrader’s connections aren’t reaching us. Close any other app that uses Traders Proxy first, or the check proves nothing.
What is confirmed, and what is not?
- Confirmed. NinjaTrader’s help documents no proxy field.
- Confirmed by the tool’s own documentation. It takes
SOCKS5with a login. - Not tested. Whether it catches every NinjaTrader connection, and whether NinjaTrader accepts it.
- Not stated. How each broker or data feed connects, and whether NinjaTrader needs a restart.
- Not relied on. NinjaTrader’s forum has threads on proxies, but we saw only search summaries.
On NinjaTrader, we claim no change, because no method is tested.
We make no claim about orders or prices on NinjaTrader, because no method is tested. NinjaTrader’s help doesn’t say how each connection opens. So we can’t say which ones a tool would catch.
On the MetaTrader 4 (MT4) and MetaTrader 5 (MT5) desktop terminals, MetaQuotes documents what the proxy setting is for. NinjaTrader gives no such statement.
Ping is the time data takes to go there and back. We don’t promise lower ping. Distance sets the minimum. No proxy can move your broker closer.
What about NinjaTrader Web and the phone app?
- NinjaTrader Web, NinjaTrader documents no proxy setting for it. A browser or system proxy would send more than your trading tab through us, so we don’t support that.
- Phones, NinjaTrader’s mobile page mentions no proxy, and we found no proxy setting in the app. Our tested Android setup covers MetaTrader only, and iPhone is untested.

Frequently asked questions
Where is the proxy setting in NinjaTrader 8?
There isn’t one. NinjaTrader’s help lists General Properties, Sounds and Share Services under General options and documents no proxy setting.
Does NinjaTrader 8 support any proxy type?
NinjaTrader documents no proxy support, so we can’t say it supports SOCKS5. A tool such as Proxifier documents SOCKS5 with a login, but we haven’t tested it with NinjaTrader.
Does NinjaTrader 8 run on Windows 10 or a Mac?
NinjaTrader’s requirements page names Windows 11 and Windows Server 2016 or later, 64-bit. It doesn’t name Windows 10, macOS or Linux, so we give no setup for them.
Do I need to pay for Proxifier?
Proxifier’s home page lists a 31-day full-function test period and per-device licences. Traders Proxy doesn’t sell or control it, and can’t promise support for it.
Will a proxy change my ping or prevent disconnects?
Drops can start at your broker or on your own internet, and ping is mostly distance. On NinjaTrader we claim no change, because no method is tested.
Will my broker mind?
Check your broker’s terms. If your broker prohibits proxies, don’t use one. Traders Proxy doesn’t change what your broker allows.

Generic or free proxies fail MetaTrader's proxy Test button
“Server — enter here the IP address and port number of the server separated by a colon. To the right of this field, select the type of proxy server: HTTP, SOCKS4 or SOCKS5. In HTTP mode, NTLM authentication is also supported”
How our system handles it. Use SOCKS5 or HTTP, whichever your platform offers. Enter our server, login and password in MetaTrader’s own Proxy window.

Where it stops. MetaTrader 4 and MetaTrader 5 support SOCKS5 and HTTP (not SOCKS4). A passing Test confirms the route reaches our server.
MetaTrader 5 will not use a proxy running on the same computer
“what im talking about is that mt5 cannot connect to proxy servers on the pc , it can only connect to remote proxies but when i want to connect to 127.0.0.1 it cannot connect. for some reason it rejects the loopback address”
How our system handles it. You don't need a tunnel app on your computer. Your platform connects to our server through its own Proxy setting.
- Own separate connection to your brokerPrimary
- Built-in
SOCKS5loginPrimary
Where it stops. Your platform connects through its built-in Proxy window, with no extra app to install. Some MetaTrader 5 builds have separate proxy-window bugs.
The platform's proxy setting does not cover everything (WebRequest, MQL5.community, Market)
“Using a SOCKS proxy in a browser, I can access the site without issues. Using the same proxy in the terminal, I still can't log in.”
Why a proxy does not change this. Only the trading app you set up uses Traders Proxy. Everything else stays on your normal internet.
- Only the app you set up is routedBoundary
Where it stops. Only the trading app you set up uses Traders Proxy. Expert Advisor web calls, custom DLLs and Market downloads may still use your normal internet.
cTrader phone app works on Wi-Fi but not on one mobile carrier
“We got some reports of issues on some providers and it seems the traffic is blocked by the ISP. You should contact your ISP regarding this issue.”
Why a proxy does not change this. Traders Proxy works with platforms that have a proxy setting, such as cTrader for Windows over HTTP. The cTrader phone app is not covered.
Where it stops. Phone app untested, so we make no claim.
